His name is Napoleon L. Mariner Jr. Some know him as a singer, songwriter, others as an aspiring actor, hard working family man and to others he’s a brother, an uncle, a friend and a son. To most though, he is Boy Wonda, a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Boy Wonda comes from a very Christian background and so it’s no surprise that he got saved at a tender of 7. His Holy Ghost filled parents helped to mould him and his older brother’s belief in Christ. Because of his solid Christian foundation the environment he grew up in, which was a vortex of drugs, gangs and violence, did not suck him in. Having witnessed firsthand the brutal effect of such heinous activities, which included jail time and ultimately death, Napoleon felt that he loved himself and valued his life too much to engage in the activities.
Growing up in the hood and experiencing what he had, had really conditioned him in preparation for his ‘soon to shoot upward’ ministry. Because of his love and passion for music he prayed to the Lord for guidance and confirmation. 3 Yrs later, in 2006 confirmation was granted, as it was then that he met his spiritual mentors Pastors Timothy and Tracy Powell who to this day still help him to be the man God wants him to be and propel his ministry.
He started out with an Independent label called T&T Entertainment back in 2006 when he first started doing music and was in a group with a friend called D.F.S.B. (Dem Fully Submitted Boyz) and was there for 4 years. Shortly after in 2010 The Lord called him to step out on his own and not knowing where he’d be going and if he was sold on the idea of standing on his own.
Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
He set up a meeting with his label mates at the time to let them know that God was leading him elsewhere and that he really didn't want to leave but had to in order for him to follow God’s will for his life.
6…in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight...”
Long story short he stepped out in faith and the moment he did he was able to go to Nashville, TN for the GMA Dove Awards and meet some of his favorite artists. In the same year he went on The Greetings Earthling Tour with La Familia all on the eastern coast of The United States and in that same year Ryan ''Lil Prophet'' Kelsie approached him and was like “I hear your name buzzing everywhere, you constantly show your face everywhere, and that your work ethnic is great and I would like to sign you.” He was like, “woahhh God if I had not been obedient to step out in faith I never would have accomplished the things God had already preordained for me to do.”
Psalm 139:16 “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
His debut single ''Put Him In Ya Air'' was released in Jan 2010 under Real Word Records. It was in heavy rotation on the #1 syndicated radio station within our genre on Jam The Hype also known as Hype Radio. For the last 2 years, still signed under Real Word Records, God has consistently opened doors on a major platform level and the very next year in 2011 I was able to go to Nashville,TN again to the Stellar Awards After Party and perform/minister. He was able to perform at Hypefest thrown by Jam The Hype in ATL. So now, still with the label, he released a new single ''FareWell'' featuring Ker-Leen Joseph produced by Marv 4 Mo Beats and released an Official Music Video for it. God has shown that if we stay faithful to Him He will continue to do what He said He would do. His word will not return back void.
If ever there was something Boy Wonda was certain of, it’s that GOD IS FAITHFUL. His vision is to encourage, uplift, help others get closer to God and to have a relationship with his son Jesus Christ; not only through his music but through his lifestyle as well; being not just a hearer but a doer of the Word. To be a servant first, to go out and make disciples of ALL NATIONS!!!!!!!!
